Eyebrows, Eyelashes and Facial Hair Transplants

The cause of eyebrow/eyelash thinning is typically related to plucking of the eyebrows, one's individual genetic eyelash pattern, other forms of trauma, burns or alopecia areata. Successful transplantation of the eyebrows depends on the surgeon's ability to reproduce the angles and directions of hair growth of the normal eyebrows, using single-hair grafts. Eyelash reconstruction requires a sophisticated sewing technique, whereby a new eyelash is delivered to its position via a superficial tunnel in the upper eyelid. Typically, about 50 single hair grafts are required to reconstruct both eyelashes.
